HANGING INSTRUCTIONS:

Please read all instructions before you start.

Most of our frames already have hanging fixtures attached, so you do not need to do extra work: just place your print in the frame and it's ready to hang. Some of our older styles, however, still come with hanging kits that you need to attach to the frame prior to using it. If you're planning a purchase, please see item description to determine if the frame you're interested in comes with hanging fixtures already attached or not. If you've received the frame already - see the back of it. If hangers are already attached - there's no hanging kit and no need for it, the frame is ready to hang as it comes. Otherwise, see instructions below.
  1. Please double-check that the frame is exactly the style and size that you need prior to removing the shrink-wrap, as returns are only accepted with shrink-wrap intact.
  2. Place the frame face-down (backboard up) on a flat sturgy surface such as a tabletop, desk, or floor. Be careful not to rub it against rough surfaces as this might scratch the molding.
  3. Gently bend the pins that hold the backboard in place and remove the backboard (there's no need to remove the glass).
  4. Place your print inside the frame, taking note which way is up, then cover it with the backboard, and bend the pins back in place, so that they'd continue holding the backboard.
  5. See the back of the frame. If the hooks are already attached, skip to step #10. Otherwise, locate a hanging kit (it is either taped to the back of the frame or shrink-wrapped together with it.)
  6. Hanging kit consists the following:
    Eye Hooks Triangular Hooks Wire
  7. You do not need to use all these fixtures. We recommend using a wire and two eye hooks for lighter frames (up to 5lbs) and wire and two triangular hooks for heavier frames (5lbs or more).
  8. Since each frame can be used for either a portrait or a landscape, the hooks can be placed on either sides. The following diagram illustrates possible choices:
Some of our customers prefer to use only one triangular hook, placing it onto the top part of molding, not sides, and thus not using the wire. This approach requires precise alignment of the hook, or the frame won't hang straight, but otherwise it is a great shortcut.
  9. Once you decided which fixtures to use and where to attach them, you can move on to actually attaching them.
All fixtures are attached to the molding itself, not the backboard (this would damage your print and the glass). To attach a triangular hook, place it flat against the molding and drive screws through two small holes using a Phyllis screwdriver. To attach an eye hook, press its sharp end against the molding, twist the hook a few times to break through the gesso, and then keep turning it clock-wise till the hook is securely in. Please see the diagram below for attaching the wire to either kind of hooks:
  10. Now you're ready to hang the frame with your print in it on the wall. Pick the spot where you'd like to have the frame, drive a nail or a screw (not included with your frame) into the wall, and hang the frame on it.
Please don't hesitate to contact us with any questions and/or concerns; we're always glad to assist our customers!
